Jafri becomes the First Ever artist to create a painting
with live links to his audience. Painting raises £45,000 for
The Rhys Daniels Trust: - The Rhys Daniels Charity Trust’s
10th Anniversary Ball on Saturday 23rd Oct 04 at the Hilton, Park
Lane W1.
Through live links to where he was painting guests were able to
watch Sacha's progress on the large projection screens on the walls
of the Ball Room where he had just 4 hours to complete the painting.
Sacha's piece was the last piece to be auctioned (a 5ft x 3ft oil
on canvas) and was the star prize of the evening. The bidding opened
with a bid from Bill Murray for £7,000. At £20,000 Sacha
took off his paint encrusted Wellington boots and added them to
the auction lot. Sacha then gave a brief explanation of the painting
of how it symbolises the 10 Years of the Rhys Daniels Trust. The
bidders raced up to £40,000. Sacha then took off his painting
shirt and trousers and added them to the auction lot. The main bidder
raised his hand to bid £45,000 and the room erupts, people
were standing on their chairs and cheering. Actor, Bill Murray was
outbid at £40,000. Auctioneer, Mike Osman of Capital Radio
announced selling once, twice, SOLD for £45,000.
