Sacha Jafri the Painter
With the official end of the YBA’s and the public crying
out for an alternative to ‘Shock Art’, Sacha has been
hailed as the painter to release us from the tirade of pickled sharks
and unmade beds produced by the likes of Damien Hirst and Tracey
Emin. While acknowledging such works as alternative art forms, Sacha’s
direction as an artist can be seen as the complete antithesis to
the Shock Art movement, and is recognized as the leader of a new
wave of painters who are set to topple this movement that has dominated
for over a decade.
“Painters have lost out to fried eggs and formaldehyde in
the battle for public attention waged by conceptual artists over
the past decade. But not for much longer, if Sacha Jafri has his
way. Sacha Jafri is on a mission to restore painting to the forefront
of British art. Could he put Hirst and Emin in the Shade?
